FAQ’s – CPIM Courses Reconfiguration
How will the changes to the APICS CPIM exam affect your certification?
The changes will only affect you if you are in the process of completing your certification. You will be required to complete your exams within the timeframe they remain available. Please refer to “How long will the current CPIM exams be available?”
Should I go with the old format or wait for the new one?
It is recommended that if you are in the process of completing your CPIM you continue. Make sure to complete the courses in a timely fashion.
How long will the current CPIM exams be available?
The last sale date of the legacy BSCM course will be on July 7, 2017. The current CPIM Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM) exam and retake exam will be available through January 7, 2018.
In August 2017 selling legacy MPR/DSP/ECO/SMR courses will be discontinued to anyone who didn’t take any of these exams or hadn’t previously purchased at least one module of courseware.
The Master Planning of Resources (MPR), Detailed Scheduling and Planning (DSP), Execution and Control of Operations (ECO) and Strategic Management of Resources SMR) exams and retake exams will be available through December 31, 2018.
What will change on the new CPIM exam format?
The content will be the same, however there will only be two exams. Exam 1 will be the Basics
exam; Exam 2 will cover MPR, DSP, ECO & SMR.
When will the new format become available?
June 2017 New Part 1 (BSCM) & August 2017 Part 2 (MPR/DSP/ECO/SMR ) Learning System & Instructor materials available for purchase.
CPIM Parts 1 and 2 exams will be available for purchase in November 2017, however the first test date will be January 8, 2018.
